Fresno Chess Club meetings have taken place in the Fresno area for nearly 80 years.  The Fresno Chess club as we know today, reorganized back in November of 1980.  In the past, our club has met at many different local sites.  The most famous of these was located in downtown Fresno at the Old "Hart's Cafeteria" where members played during the 1940's thru into the 1960's.
The Fresno Chess Club is now making history as paid and active membership reaches new heights.  Our goal by the end of 2008 was achieved by surpassing the 200 mark.  Unbelievable but true, by July 2009 membership reached 300!
In May of 2009, the United States Chess Federation honored the Fresno Chess Club by giving us the "Chess Club of the Year"  award.

What goes on at the Fresno Chess Club and what if I am not that good of a player or just learning the game or don't know how to play at all?  Relax, you will be at ease with our friendly crew.  Many of our members are fans of "blitz" chess played with a chess clock.  Other members play longer casual games.   During any given evening at the club, players of average all the way to expert or master strength are likely present.  We also offer all types of chess equipment at a great discount avoiding dreaded shipping and handling charges.  Need more information, call Bob at 708-8100 and or speak with our current President at the club.
